Marie and David Baines Comment on Local Hosptial Rankings

Six NHS Trusts regularly serving people from St Helens have been recognised among the top-performing in the country, according to the Government’s newly published Acute Trust League Table.

Three trusts found themselves in the top 10: Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital secured an outstanding 4th place overall. The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and The Walton Centre, both highly regarded for their specialist care in cancer and neurology respectively, were not far behind in 7th and 8th place.

Other trusts in the top 100 included: Alder Hey Children’s Hospital ranked 16th, Liverpool Women’s Hospital recognised at 68th, and Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which includes Whiston Hospital and St Helens Hospital placed 56th, an incredible achievement for the highest performing acute service in the North West.

The league tables, released this week by NHS England, measure performance across waiting times, cancer care, financial stability, and other clinical standards. The new system aims to improve transparency and accountability across the health service.

Marie Rimmer, Member of Parliament for St Helens South and Whiston, stated:

“I am incredibly proud to see these NHS trusts used regularly by our local residents be listed in the top trusts in England.

This is welcomed recognition of the world class care we receive from our incredible local NHS staff, I have nothing but gratitude for their tireless work. We’re incredibly lucky to have some of the very best healthcare in the country right here on our doorstep.”

David Baines, Member of Parliament for St Helens North, said:

“I am absolutely delighted to see this recognition for local trusts which many of my constituents rely on.

It’s a moment to celebrate the incredible dedication of NHS staff, who work tirelessly to deliver outstanding care across these fantastic hospitals.

With the government’s 10 Year Health Plan, I’m confident this success will be built upon, ensuring even better services for patients in the years ahead.”
