On 5th March, Marie wrote to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, urging the Government to support new investment for coalfield communities through the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
The Trust is seeking £50 million of government investment, which it will match to create a £100 million fund to build industrial units, support small businesses and create jobs in former mining communities.
Coalfield communities still face significant challenges, and this investment could help drive growth while supporting local organisations doing vital work.
