Marie welcomed Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds MP, for tour around a Pilkington factory to address the increasing concern of rising energy bills for heavy manufacturers.
The Shadow Business Secretary was joined by the Shadow Minister for Energy and Manufacturing Bill Esterson MP on the 13th January.
The global energy crisis, brought about by global shortages in gas and coal, has particularly impacted industrial companies like Pilkington as they use large amounts of energy to manufacture their products.
Earlier in the week, Ms Rimmer called on the Government in Parliament to support glass manufacturers and other energy intensive businesses.
Ms Rimmer supports Labour’s plans to introduce a £600 million contingency fund to provide urgent help the the heavy industry sector.
