MP receives first vaccination dose

Marie Rimmer, MP for St Helens South & Whiston, has received her first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The vaccination took place at the home of St Helens Rugby Football Club, the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Ms Rimmer received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Marie Rimmer MP said: “I am immensely grateful to the wonderful work of scientists both in the UK and around the world for their tireless efforts. The turnaround time for this vaccine really is a testament to humanity and the power of working together.

“The staff at the vaccination centre were phenomenal and it is a safe and smooth operation. Everyone should feel safe and confident in attending. The vaccine is the only way that we escape this crisis, so I urge everyone to take up the opportunity when it comes.

“I will continue to abide by the restrictions in place as they are still entirely necessary to help save lives.”

Ms Rimmer has been a regular attendee at the stadium since it opened in 2011 to watch her beloved Saints.
